Meet Our Staff

Founder Dr. Patricia Burchell, DPN grew up in River Vale, NJ. Coming from a large family she always had passion for helping those in need. After obtaining her Doctorate of Nursing Degree in 2015 from Rutgers, she continued practicing in pain management.

 

With over 25 years’ experience in the medical industry, her career path has led her to open her own facility, the Karma Wellness Center. Her compassion is a driving force that allows her to care for, educate and provide select therapy regimens for each person’s individual needs.

 

Her expertise in multiple facets allowed her to align her practice to promote overall wellness. In her spare time, Dr. Burchell loves to read and take long walks in the park with Karma’s mascot Bailey.

Reiki Master Kristen Davis grew up in Waldwick NJ. Struggling in a career path outside forces led her to researching energy healing. Further research of Shamanism began her journey as a Reiki practitioner. Kristen is certified by the Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai institute for Reiki I & II, Shoden and Okuden. She is a member of the IARP – International Association of Reiki Professional. She is licensed and insured.

 

Her experiences as both a practitioner as well as a receiver are physically and mentally rejuvenating. Kristen describes meditation and Reiki to be the best combination for the mind, body and soul. She explains that everyone experiences Reiki differently, some having visions, some feel warm sensations, some people feel cold. Her techniques and guidance will help each individual to be open to receive her energy.

 

Kristen sometimes sees colors and auras during sessions that help guide her and help her work intuitively. Though the universal source energy of REIKI knows where to go, and flows to where it’s needed most. It is used to strengthen their wellbeing, reduce pain, anxiety and fatigue and promote healing. When Kristen is not at work, she enjoys Yoga, Acro, Aerial and spending time with her beautiful daughter.

Massage Therapist Brenda Diaz’s compelling interest to help people in pain helped her make her career decision. She is a L.M.T who graduated from Healing Hands Institute, formerly located in Westwood, NJ in 2002.

 

Brenda is devoted to helping her clients achieve a healthier lifestyle through massage. She will discuss with you the nature of your pain to help decide which method of massage each client will benefit from.

 

She has training in various massage modalities which consist of deep tissue, Swedish, craniosacral, prenatal and sports massage. Her techniques are used to help people feel better and recover from their injuries, whether it’s from sports or daily life stressors.

 

When not working Brenda enjoys long walks with her 3 children, husband and dog Coco.

Massage Therapist Jessica Crispo was born and raised in Monroe, New York, and graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School. She then attended SUNY Delhi where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Management.

 

In 2000 a car accident left her with painful back injuries. In lieu of surgery Jessica sought the help of a Chiropractor and Massage Therapist. Seeing that this combination of care allowed her to live a pain free life led her to seek a career in Massage Therapy. Jessica has since completed her certification from the School of Massage in Ithaca, NY. She has been licensed in NY State since 2007.

 

Jessica has studied a variety of massage modalities. The balance between the energetic and physical body has led Jessica to study Craniosacral therapy with the Upledger Institute where she learned techniques for working deeply with the structures of the body with a gentle approach to healing. Jessica is also certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. Jessica believes that the human body can heal itself and hopes to pass on healing energy to those in need.

Chiropractor Dr. Mariyam B. Mathew is a board-certified in the state of New York. After receiving her doctorate from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, she returned to her home state of New York. She has worked for several multidisciplinary chiropractic practices throughout New York, especially Rockland County, Manhattan (midtown and the financial district). She has also worked as a covering doctor for may chiropractors in NYC. After ten years on working in Manhattan, she has decided to work closer to home so she can be accessible to her parents. She joined Karma Wellness Center in January of 2020.

 

Dr. Mathew combines traditional chiropractic care with sports injury/rehabilitation exercises along with alternative treatments to her approach in patient care. She aids in overall health and wellness and goes beyond short term relief. At the KWC eliminates the quick fix remedy and provides each patient with a customized plan of care to long term health.

 

Dr. Mathew is certified in Graston, Rock-tape as well as board certified in physiotherapy. In addition, she may utilize some of the more common chiropractic approaches including: Cox flexion distraction, trigger point therapy, hydrocollator heat therapy, interferential, ultrasound, myofascial release technique, rehabilitative exercises and therapeutic stretching sports injury treatment methods and yoga/Tai chi.

 

Dr. Mathew is a Rockland county resident who enjoys yoga, Tai Chi, dancing, running, and meditation as well as researching Parkinson’s Disease and Cancer to help patients to who are battling these major illnesses. She also spends time with her family and friends and as well as gardening.
